Mole/Lump Removal

At our clinics we offer a wide range of skin procedures and minor surgery to remove unsightly lumps, bumps and corrective treatments for minor facial disfiguration to enhance your confidence and to improve your looks.

All procedures are done with safety as our first concern and as such prior to any procedure, however minor, we take a full history of any medical conditions, allergies and past history of any operations.  This gives us the best information possible for your suitability for the treatments available.

Mole, Wart and Skin Tag Removal

If you have a mole that you are worried about, a skin tag that is constantly irritating you or an unsightly wart we can remove these for you.  This is a simple and safe procedure when performed by an experienced doctor.

For any changing or worrying moles or new lesions that have appeared it is advisable to have them to get a mole check by a doctor who is preferably trained in using a dermatoscope. This new 'mini-microscope' is able to look 2mm under the skin to help identify any suspicious or early change in moles.

Regardless of where the mole or skin tag is, on your body or face, the mole removal leaves minimal or no scarring.  We can send moles to be looked at by a histologist if it has not been established benign.

Minor surgery is a popular choice for removing moles and other skin blemished and there are a variety of techniques that are used according to the lesion being removed and the desired cosmetic result.

Shave Excision Surgery

Shave excisions are the easiest and commonest form of mole removal for moles that protrude from the skin.  They involve a tiny painless injection of local anaesthetic just under the mole to numb just that part of the skin.  A special derma blade or punch is then used plane down the mole or lesion so it is flat on the skin.

It only takes a few minutes to perform and sometimes no stitches are required.  It takes only 7-10 days to heal and only leaves a tiny mark.  Most patients cannot believe how quick and easy it is and often wished they had done it sooner.

Ellipse Excision Surgery

Moles that are flat, potentially worrying or not suitable for shave or punch excision we perform ellipse excisions.  These involve a small painless injection under the mole only to numb just that area.  With precision cutting the entire mole is removed in one go.  The remaining opening is then brought together with skin stitches that in most cases just simply dissolve away.  The result is a thin white line instead of the mole.  This only takes about 20 minutes and is not painful.  Usually a dressing is placed over the wound to protect it for the first week and then moisturing and massaging the wound to help improve the scar with vitamin e, bio-oil or silicon gels is advised.  The wound initially starts of red and then gradually fades to a whitish line.  Very rarely scars can over heal and form keloid or hypertrophic scars which would then require further treatment.

What Causes Warts?

Warts are caused by the human papilloma wart virus (HPV virus), and are commonly found on the fingers, face, genitals and feet (verruca or plantar warts).  They are usually passed from person to person by direct contact with the wart, and areas of broken skin are particularly susceptible.  Warts are often unsightly, and can be irritating or painful.  In children, warts can disappear without treatment over a period of several months to years.  Warts in adults often do not disappear as easily or as quickly as they do in children.  They usually continue to spread and grow unless treated, and so many sufferers opt for wart removal.

How do your remove warts?

At our clinic warts are removed mainly with electro-croyotherapy or sometimes need to be surgically removed if they are very large or thick.  Most wart removal treatments are completed in one session, though some occasionally require a repeat visit.  The treatments are relatively painless with local anaesthetic, and afterwards patients usually find that they can go about their daily business as usual.

Laser Mole Removal

Our laser treatments are very useful for helping with minor irregularities and bumps on the surface that can affect the overall texture.  Moles that are flat and light coloured are often difficult to remove as they often leave some sort of scar.  Laser mole removal offers an alternative to surgery or chemical methods of bleaching moles.  The lasers that can be used are generally Intense Pulse Light lasers, KTP or ND-Yag lasers that emit specific wavelengths of light to specifically target the darker colour pigment in the skin and evaporate it.

At our clinic in Allington Maidstone we can offer Radio surgery which is a precise way that cuts the moles away from the skin leaving almost no bleeding as it cauterizes the wound with a special magic wand like device.  Using the same equipment we can also treat unsightly thread veins and bumps in and around nose. Using the same Ellman Surgitron Dual Radiofrequency we perform Non-Ablative Volumetric Skin Tightening what is popularly known as Pelleve® Skin Ironing Results can be amazing.  If you want to have go we can do 10 minutes complementary treatment.

The advent of injectable facial rejuvenation treatments has led to an explosion in the dermal or facial fillers that are currently licensed for use.  Some have a greater safety profile and characteristics than others.  At our clinic we believe that restylane, juvederm, teosal, radiasse & sculptra are  market leaders and therefore offer all these products to our patients and will help advise them on the which would suit their individual needs best.
